God Bless You Dear Readers.
I wish to address this topic, in view of the fact that so many people are experiencing Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
There are so many causes of Urinary Tract Infection. However, I will talk about how the ailment can be triggered by Holding In Urine Longer Than Necessary, and a few other causes.
Most times, people feel the urge to pass urine, but hold in urine, either because there is no bathroom in sight, or because it is not convenient for them to pass urine immediately.
And because it’s not immediately convenient to go to the bathroom, they go dancing around in order to control their urine from spilling out.
But please take note that when you hold in large amounts of your urine occasionally, there is no problem with that. But when you do it over time, you expose your body to harmful bacteria, as this can increase your chances of having a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
When you hold in your urine for long periods over time, this can weaken the bladder muscles. And as a result, you experience problems of urinary incontinence (inability to control urination), as well as being unable to fully empty your bladder.
And when you are unable to fully empty your bladder, bacteria finds its way into the unemptied urine and multiply, leading to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
Please also take note that when you hold in urine for long periods of time:
1. This can cause your bladder to burst. It is a very rare case but it happens, and this can be deadly.
2. This can also cause kidney stones to form in the unemptied urine, creating a serious health issue.
Also please note that even those who do not form the habit of drinking enough liquid, are also at risk of developing Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
This is because they do not pass out urine frequently enough. And so this allows bacteria to enter their urine and multiply, causing infection.
You realise that your bladder is connected to your kidneys through the ureters.
Occasionally, urine backs up into the kidneys, causing infection, or kidney damage.
Cases of Enlarged Prostate and a Neurogenic Bladder (with symptoms such as incontinence, urgency, frequency, retention),
as a result of nerve damage, can cause involuntary urine retention.
Please note that when you make 6 to 8 visits to the bathroom in a 24-hour period, it is a normal situation.
But when you make over and above 10 visits to the bathroom daily, it is abnormal and you should go see your doctor for check-up.
Some women may have the urge to urinate more frequently after having children. This may be as a result of changes that occur during child birth, such as nerve stimulation, weakened muscles.
